Sh'lah 5 לך כזבתי לא I did not telll thee a falsehood; a. e. Pi. כיזב same. Par. VIII, 9 המכזבים המים waters which fail at certain times. Y. Taan. II, 65b bot. (ref. to Num. XXIII, 19) הא מכזב . . . יאמר אם if a man says, I am a. God, he is a deceiver. Num. R. s. 23 (ref. to Num. l. c.) שיכוב לאל עושה איש a man (through his prayer) may cause God to fail (to execute his evil decrees); Tanh. Mase 7 שיכ׳ לאל עושה איש לא does not a man cause God &c. --- Yoma 69b לו כיזבו לא Ms. M. (ed. בו) they would not be false in His praise (fatter); a. fr. -- PPart. pass. מכוזב, pl. מכוזבים reduced. Ruth. R. to I, 1 (play on כזבה, I Chr. IV, 22) מכ׳ שהיו בניו אלו tthat refers to his (Elimelech's) sons who were reduced (died).

כזב m. (b. h.; preced.) falsehood. - Pl. כזבים. Pesik. Bahod., p. 154a; Lev. R. s. 29 וכ׳ הבלים vain and false things. Cant. R. to II, 13 (play on סתו, ib. 11) that is the wicked (Roman) government בכזביה . . . שמסיתה which entices the world and leads it astray with its falsehoods. Pesik. R. s. 40 וכ׳ מכזבים שישראל כ׳ the falsehoods which the Israelites commit during the whole year. --[hEx. R. s. 4 כזבים, v. כוב.]-- [כזב מדבר, v. כוב.]
כזבן m. (preced.) liar. Tanb. Mase 5 כ׳ אתחשב I shall be considered a liar; Num. R. s. 23.
כזבנא ch. same. Gen. R. s. 47.
*כזז (v. P. Sm. 1691 s. v. כוז), [to shrink,; to be shy, bashful. Part. כזי. Pes. 72b מינה כ׳ Ar. a. Ms. O. (v. Rabb. D. S. a. l. note, ed. בזיז) he is reserved towards her (not yet intimate). Yeb. 26a מיניה בניה דכ׳ Ar. (ed. דב׳) before him his son is shy. Ib. 112 a top מינה כ׳ מיכזז Ar. (ed. ב׳ מיב׳), opp. גיס, v. גיס I. כח, כוח m. (b. h.; v. יכח) firmnees, strength, power. Hor. 9a וכ׳ בכ׳ בנוי in beauty, in physical strengtb, &c. H ag. 12a. Snh. 96a כחו תשש his strength failed him. Ber. 63a וכ כח בו אין . . . כל he who is careless about the study of the Law, will have no strength to endure on the day of trouble; a. v. fr. -- Bets. 2b, a. fr. (mixed diction) להודיעך . . כהן to show the power of.. . ., i. e. how far-reaching . .. Io., a. fr. are the consequences of the opinion of . .. עדים דהיתרא כח showing the power of the more lenient opinion is preferred (as an evidence of courage of con- viction, while the more rigid opinion may be the out- come of doubt). -- כחו כח indirect action, opp. כחו direct action. כחד (b. h.; cmp. כחש) to diminish. Pi. כיחד to withhold, deny. Num. R. s. 13 מיעקב כ׳ לא did not withhold (the truth) from &c. Hif. הכחיד to destroy. Ib. s. 20 ולהכחידן לקללן to curse and destroy them. Ex. R. s. 122; a. e. Niff. נכחד to be destroyed. Ib. וכ׳ מן ׳ היית thou wouldst have been wiped out from the earth.
כחד ch. same. [Y. Sabb. VII, 10a bot. מכחד, v. בחר.] thpa. אתכחד to be destroyed. Targ. Job IV, 7.

כחוש m., כתושה f. lean, weak, v. כחש.
כחח (onomatop., cmp. חכך II) [to scratch,] to cough, to bring up mucus. Erub. 99a רבו בפני כח (not כיח, v. Rabb. D. S. a. l. note 16) he who coughs in sight of his teacher, expl. ib. ורק כח (not כיח) when he coughs and spits out. Tosef. ib. XI (VIII), 8 וכ׳ הכוחה (fr. כחה) he who couughs (bbrings mucus up in his mouth) in the street. Tanh. Noah 9 דם וכוהה גונח coughing and spitting blood; (Tanh. ed. Bub. ib. 14 מלבו גונח), v. גנח.
כחיש, כחישא m.. ברישא כחישתא . (כהט) lean, weak. Kidd. 24b כ׳ נהורא feeble eye-sight, opp. בריא normal. B. Bath. 155b ליברי . . כ׳ אי if he is lean, we let him be fattened. B.
