147a בבלייתא כיסי pouches (a sort of cape or hood) worn by the Babylonian women; (Ar.; כישי, Ms. M. כושי, v. כישא a. מרזב). -- V. כיסתא.
כיסא or כיסא m. (כסס) 1) thorn (cmp. קיסא). - Pl. כיסין, כיסי, כיס׳. Y. Sabb. VI, 8c bot. כ׳ מקטוע to cut thorns. Sabb. 77b כ׳ אכל (Ms. M. בוצי, ביני, Ar. ביסי) (thes camel) eats thorns. B. Mets. 42b, sq. כ׳ דמי . . . בכ׳ (Ms. H. ב׳, v. Rabb. D. S. a. l. note 6) when what he gave him in trust was thorns (on which the cuscuta was hanging), and he pays him the value of thorns. -- 2) fodder, v. כיסתא II.

כיסוח, כס׳ m. (כסח) cutting down, clearing. M. Kat. 3a. Gen. R. s. 12; Cant. R. to I, 1; Koh. R. to II, 12 דרך הכ׳ in the path made by clearing the thicket; a. e.
כיסוי, כס׳ m. (כסה II) 1) act of covering. HIull.VI, 1 הדם כ׳ the law concerning the covering with ashes of the blood of killed animals (Lev. XVII, 13). Ib. 4 לכולן אחד כ׳ for all of them one covering up is sufficient. -- Koh. R. tto IV, 6 (ref. to וכסה, Lev. XVI, 13) וכ׳ הזה הכ׳ what this expression 'to cover meant &c. -- 2) cover, lid, roofing. כיסויא, כס׳ ch. same, 1) covering, roofing. Taan. 22b דתנורא ככ׳ (Ms. M. כיסתא כי, corr. acc.) as high up as the arch of the oven. -- 2) cover, cloak. Keth. 68a לבושא וכ׳ garment and wrap. -- Pl. כיסויין. Targ. II Esth. VI, 10 [read] כיסויי מן. --a*) secret. -- Pl. fem. כיפויין, כס׳. Targ. Job XI, 6.

כיסיתא f. (dimin. of כיס) a little bag. Meg. 20b bot. לססיפרא כ׳. . מיעבדיה Ms. M. (Ms. M. 2 כסואתא pl. of כסוא; Ms. O. כיסתא; ed. פריסא, v. Rabb. D. S. a.l. note) to alter it into a bag for a book of the Law.
כיסכוס m. (כסכס) rubbing (clothes, in washing). Zeb. 94b כ׳ . . . כיבוס washing without rubbing.

כיסנין, כסנין (כיסאנין, כסאנין) m. fl. (כסס. adopt. fr. Chald.; cmp. מלילה) nibblings, dessert. Tosef. Ber. IV, 4 כסאנ׳ ed. Zuck. (Var. כיסאנ׳, כיסנ). Ber. 41b בכ׳ הבאה פת bread offered as dessert. Y. Snh. X, 28d top כ׳ מיני . . . . נשים women selling all kinds of sweetmeats (Sifre Num. 131 בשמים). Y. Pes. X, beg. 37b כיסנית מיני nibblings.

כיסתא If. =כיסא, bag. Ber. 24a bot.בכ׳ (Ms. F. בכיסתיה) in the bag (of the T'iillin). Sabb. 105b top כי׳ דעבדה Ms. M. (ed. כסתא כי, Rashi כי׳ כי, v. Rabb. D. S. a. l.) when he shapes the garment so as to form (a kind of) a pocket.
