R. l. c. וכ׳ כפתני tie me well. Macc. III, 12 כופת וכ׳ ידיו שתי (some ed. כופה) oneputs both hishands instocks on the pole. Gitt. 14b כופתין כפותו אומרין when they (the officers) say, put him in stocks, they put him &c. Succ. 32a (ref. to כפת, Lev. XXIII, 40) יכפתנו פרוד היה אם כפות (Ms. M. omits כפות) it must be tied; if the branch is spread, one must tie it closely. כפת ch. same. Targ. Y. Gen. XXII, 9. Targ. Ps.CXVIII, 27; a. e. -- Part. pass. pl. כפותין (hebr.) put in stocks. Targ. Y. II Num. XXI, 29. - Tam. 31b בשיראי דכפתיה if one tied the sacrifice (hands and feet) with silk ropes. B. Bath. 167a ואודי כפתיה he put him in stocks (or in prison), and he confessed. Gitt. 14a וכ׳ ושקלי דכפתי who use force (have him arrested) and collect their due immediately (allow- ing no time). Y. Gitt. I, end, 43a; Y. Kidd. III, 64a כפתון מיניה ואפקון they put him in stocks and forced him to pay; a. e. -- [Gitt. 62a וכ׳ מכפת, v. אכפת.] Pa. כפית 1) same. Targ. Cant. VII, 5. - Y. Kil. כפתא m. (כפת) tie, knot. - Pl. כפתיא, כפתין. Gen. R. s. 56; Yalk. Gen. 101; Yalk. Nah. 561 כ׳ אילין those bonds (with which the genii of the nations were tied, v. כפת). -- Esth. R. to I, 6 (in Hebr. dict.) כסף של בכפאתין מכופתין היו the couches were tied with silver straps.
כפתה f. h. (v. preced.) travelling implements tied up, bundle. - Pl. כפתות. Gen. R. s. 100 התירו כפתותיהן קשרי (some ed. קשרות) they (the Canaanites) untied the knots of their (the pall-bearers') bundles (assisted them in their preparationsfor camping); Yalk. Gen. 161 כתפותיהם בתרי; Y. Sot. I, 17b bot. כתפיהן קשרי (corr. acc.).
כפתור m. (b. h.; כפת with format. ר; v. כפת Pa. 2, a. preced. wds.) ball, esp. an ornament of the candlestick in the shape of a pomegranate. Gen. R. s. 91 end ופרח כ׳ pomegranate and blossom , i. e. well and nicely said -- Men. 28b. - Pl. כפתורים, כפתורין. Ib.
כפתורים (b. h. כפתרים) pr. n. gent. Kaftoreans. Gen. R. s. 37; Yalk. ib. 62; Yalk. Chr. 1074 ננסין כ׳ Kaft. were dwarfs.

כר m. (b. h.; כרר, v. כרה) 1) bolster, mattress. Mikv. X, 2. Kel. XXVI, 5, v. כסת; a. fr. -- Pl. כרים. Kil. IX, 2; a. fr. -- Meg. 12a(expl. כרפס, Esth. I, 6) פסים של כ׳ mattresses of striped goods. -- 2) rounded; (cmp. כבש) fat lamb. Men. 66b, a. e., v. כרמל. -- Esth. R. to I, 14 (play on כרשנא). . מי שנה בן כר (not פר) who offers unto thee a lamb one year old? -- Pl. as ab. Meg. 12b שנה בני כ׳; Yalk. Esth. 1051 פרים (corr. acc.). [Y. Sabb. כרב II (preced.) [to dig around, denom. כרובא, fr. which כרב] to plough. B. Kam. 96b כרבא בהו כ׳ (Ms. M. omits כרבא) he ploughed with them. Sabb. 33b . . . חזו וזרעי כרבי they saw people plough and sow. Ib. 73b מכדי ברישא כרבי מכרב do not people first plough (and then sow)?
