מלוזמא, מלוזמה m. (a Babylonian corrupt. of יopao~, numisma) stamp of a coin. Ber. 53b ששיכיר כדי וכ׳ למ׳ . . מ׳ בין when one can distinguish the stamp of a Tiberian coin from that of a Sepphorian coin.

מלוח m. (b. h.; מלח) a salt-plant, sea-purslane (Ha- lineus). -- Pl. מלוחים, מלוחין. Kidd. 66a. Pesik. R. s. 15 כל וכ׳ מ׳ אוכל . . . מי whoever believes in him (the Messiah), is contented to live on salt-plants &c.

מלויתא f. (מלי) place for drawing water, well. Lev. R. s. 21 דנשיא מלויתהן על ליה ויתיב sat down by the place where the women draw water; Pesik. Ahare, p. 17 6b; Yalk. Lev. 571 מלתהון; (Keth. 62b דנהרא אגודא).

מלוכה f. (b. h.; מלך) rulership, office. Midr. Prov. ch. XXI וכ׳ למ׳ עולה בו״ד when a human being rises to rulership, he is in the hands of the Lord; Yalk. ib. 959. Sabb. 56b המ׳ את יחלקו shall divide the rulership between themselves. Num. R. s. 3 מ׳ בעלי rulers; a. e.

מלון m. (b. h.; לון I) lodging. Snh. 95b לבית. . צדיק מלוני this righteous man (Jacob) has come to my lodg- ing place; Hull. 91b, v. לינה. Midr. Prov. ch. IX שנמצא וכ׳ טוב מ׳ לד a beautiful lodging has been offered thee in the hour of thy death; a. fr.

מלח (b. h.; denom. of מלח) to salt, brine; esp. (in ritual law) to strew salt on raw meatt to resorb its blood. Midd. V, 3 וכ׳ עורות מולחין היו they put salt on thrhides of sacrifices. - Hull. 113a וכ׳ יפה יפה מולחו א״כ אלא unless one salts it carefully and washes it thoroughly. Ib. ומולח מדיח וכ׳ one must first wash the meat, then salt it and again wash it. B. Bath. 74b וכ׳ לצדיקים ומלח and preserved it in salt for the benefit of the righteous &c. מלח II, m. מלח (denom. of מל) to row; to bal- ance. K eth. 85a מלוחי ממלח (not מימלח) rowed the boat (as an act of possession). B. Kam. 117b ממינייהו חד ביה מ׳ (Alf.) one of them tried to keep the boat in balance(against the ass that threatened to upset it); [ed. לחמרא ליה מ׳ (Var. מלא, v. Rabb. D. S. a. l. note 90) he tried to counter-- balance the ass].
מלח c. (b. h.; cmp. מלל) [brittle,] salt. Ker. 6a; B. Bath. 20b סדומית מ׳ (sub. ארן) seasalt, v. אסתרוקנית. Hull. 112a מלחו מחמת נאכל is eaten on account of (with) the salt it has absorbed. Keth. 66b (prov.) חסר ממון מ׳ חסד וא״ל the salt (means of preservation) of wealth is its diminution (by charitable deeds), and some say hesed (benevolence). Gen. R. s. 51 במ׳ חטאה she (Lot's wife) sinned through salt; מ׳ מ׳ לי תנו הולכת she went to all her neighbors and said, give me salt for we have guests; a. fr.
