מעזיבה f. (עזב, v. infra) a concrete ofstone chippings. clay &c., used for paving floors, pavement covering the ceiling (תקרה) of the lower story and serving as flooring to the upper story. B. Mets. X, 2 המ׳ את העליון. התחתון the dweller below must provide the ceiling, and the one above the pavement. Ib. 117a וכ׳ אחזוקי מ׳ the plaster preserves the ceiling (thus benefitting the owner of the ower story); (oth. opin.) וכ׳ אשוויי מ׳ it serves only to level the foor. Succ. I, 7 מ׳ עליה שאין תקרה a ceiling not covered with pavement; a. fr. -- [עובב, Neh. III, 3 is supposed to mean; to form a concrete for fortification purposes. -- Our w. seems to be a hebraization of מלט caementum (v. P. Sm. 21 37), by confounding it with h. r. מלט; cmp. הימלטא a. מלטט.]
מעזילא m. (עזל) spinner. Koh. R. to VII, 9 (prov.) מפלכתיה ליה סליק כן פלכתיה על עויל דמ׳ היכמא (not בפ׳; strike out נסיב הוא, being a Var. lect. or gloss to סליק) as the spinner winds (the yarn) on his distaff, so will it; get off his distaff, i. e. the rash man hurts none but him- self; v. גיסא III.
מעזזלא m. (preced.) the yarn on the distaf. Targ. Prov. XXXI, 19 (h. text פלך).
