מריצה I f. (רצץ) a tool for crushing bones, stones &c. Shek. VIII, 2 וכ׳ והמיוחדין והמ׳ . . . . מן חוץ Ms. M. (ed. המיוחדין, v. Rabb. D. S. a. l. note; Ms. M. והמרחצ׳; Y. ed. omits our w.) except the basket (for gathering disinterred bones for burial), the shovel, and the crusher, and things specially designated for burial purposes. Y. ib. 51a bot. האבן את שמריצה מ׳ מ״ד (v. Rabb. D. S. tto Bab. ed., p. 68a; Bab. ed. add הקברות לבית) he who calls the tool m'ritsah (instead of צפורן) does so, because it makes the stones run (fr. רון), i e. makes them portable.

מריקה f. (מרק) scouring, washing. Sifra Tsav, Pur. 3, ch. VII הכוס כמריקת מ׳ the m'rikah (Lev. VI, 21) means like washing a cup, contrad. to שטיפה (rinsing); Zeb. XI, 7. Tosef. ib. X, 14 מריקתן their being washed; a. fr.

מרירה f. (b. h.; preced. wds.) [b. h. bile,] bitterness, trnsf. 1) sin. Ex. R. s. 43 (ref. to ויחל, Ex. XXXII, 1) וכ׳ מרירתן חפלי sweeten thou the bitterness ofsrael(pardon their sins) and heal them. -- Pl. מדידדת. Ib. שיחלה מי שלנו המ׳ one to sweeten our bitternesses (to pray for us). Lev. R. s. 12 (ref. to Deut. XXXII, 32) וכ׳ מ׳ שהביאו הללו it is they (the grapes) that brought sins &c. -- 2) (v. next w.; cmp. לענה II) curse. Midr. Till. to Ps. XC, 9 (expl. הגה ib.; cmp. הגה a. אגא) מ׳ זו that means curse'.

מרירתא f. (מרר) 1) bitter, v. מריר I. -2) also מרירתא, מרדתא = h. מרה, gall, bile. Targ. Y. Ex. XXIII, 25 מ׳ מחת affection of the gall, v. מרה I; a. e. -- Keth. 50a דדיה מרר׳ וכ׳ the gall of a white dayah (v. דיה). Pes. 39a, v. כופיא. [Ib. מרירתא במרור; אמררתא, v. מרריתא.] ברישm. (contr. of מארשש, v. ארס; cmp. Targ. of מורשי, Job XVII, 11; לוחי) joidt, beam (cmp. כששורא). Gitt. V, 5 המ׳ וכ׳ הגזול an illegally taken joist which was placed in a. group of buildings. B. Kam. 66b (ref. to Gitt. l. c.) מ׳ והרי וכ׳ כשורא here is the case of the mareshh (where the stolen object changed its name),before t was placed it was nam- ed כשורא, and now it is טללא (ceiling); a. fr. -- Pl. מרישות.
