משחה f. (b. h.; משח I) official distinction, official emoluments. Y. Bicc. II, 64d (ref. to Num. XVIII, 8) למ׳ וכ׳ לכ׳ לגדולה l'moshha means for official distinction, for anointing (he body) &c., v. הדלקה; Zeb. 28a, a. e. למ׳ וכ׳ לגדולה l'moshha means for distinction, as kings eat.
משחה f. (b. h.; v. preced.) 1) anointing, official in- stallation; המ׳ ששמן the oil used for installation. Hor. III, 4; Meg. I, 9, v. משח I. Tosef. Sot. XIII, 1וצנצנת.. . גננז המ׳ שמן של (Josiah) removed out of sight the Ark . . .. and the bottle of the oil of installation (made by Moses). משחזת f. (שחז) whetting implement o stone or wood. Kel. XVII, 17; Tosef. ib. B. Mets. VII, 10 בית בה שיש מ׳ וכ׳ a (wooden) whetter which has a receptacle for oil. Bets. 28a אבן של מ׳ a whetstone; ען של כ׳ a wooden whetter; a. fr. [Ar. reads משחז.]

משטח, משטיח m. (b. h. משטח; שטח) spreading, grapes spread on the ground spreading place. Toh. X, 4 אדמה של המ׳ ומן. . . . הנותן he who puts in the press grapes collected in baskets or such as were spread on the (naked) ground; ib. עלים של המ׳ מן grapes spread on leaves. Tosef. ib. XI, 8. משי, משא (cmp. מוש) 1) to feel, touch. Targ. O. Gen. XXVII, 22. -- 2) (with ידא) to rub, whence to wash and dry, esp. one's hands before and after meals. Ber. 46b ידך משי wash thy hands. Hull. 107a וכ׳ ידייכו tמש wash your hands in tthe morning. Ibb ייך משית ולא (not יריה) and didst not wash thy hands. Ib. מששינא ואנא and I should wash? vPes. 112a.
