מתינה f. (מתן) deliberation, consideration. Gen. R. s. 67 במ׳ עשו לו בא Esau planned against Jacob with deliberateness (taking his time for revenge); Yalk. ib. 115.
מתינות f. (preced.) slow motion, opp. מהירות. Gen. R. s. 10.
מתינתא f. (מתן) that which is waited for, hope. Targ. Job XVII, 15 מתינתי.

מתיקה f. (מתק) 1) sweet taste. Y. Ber. V, 9a top. - 2) seasoning, relish. B. Mets. VII, 1. -- 3) מ׳ מיני sweet- meats, delicacies; sweet drinks. B. Kam. 85a. Y. Orl. II, 62b top. Esth. R. to I, 9 מתוקים מיני. Y. Ned. VII, 40b bot. מ׳ מיני בכל אסור התידוש מן הנודר he who vows abstinence from tirosh, is forbidden all kinds of sweet (unfermented) drinks; a. e.
מתיר m. (תר, Hif.) 1) part. Hif. of נתר q. v. - 2) that which makes an oljectt permittted for enyoyment. Zeb. II, 3 המ׳ the blood (the sprinkling of which makes the sacri- fice fit for eating or for the altar); a. fr. -- Pl. מתירים, מתירין. Ib. IV, 3; Meiil. II, 9 מ׳ לו שיש כל whatever may become permitted through a certain act, e. g. tthe meal-- offering by taking a handful for the altar. Ib. מתיריוו those things which cause it to be available. מתכונת f. (b.h. מתכנת; תכן) measure, required amount. Tanh. Ki Thetse 9 הלבנים במ׳ עליהם חקוק שמם שהיה (the lists) in which their names were recorded with their daily task of bricks. Yalk. Ex. 182 הלבנים מתכונות pl. - Ker. 6b במתכונתה מתקן היה יום בכל he might prepare every day the quantity of frankincense required for the occasion.
