נוי, נוא) m. (נוה, נאה) 1) beauty, ornament. Kel. XIV, 2 לנוי עשאן (ed. Dehr. לנואי) he attached them for ornamentation. Yeb. 39b ׳ לשם . יבמתו את הכונס he who married his deceased brother's wife (v. יבמה) for her beauty (not with the intention of perpetuating his brother's name). Y. Maasr. III, end, 51a של לנוייה חצר to embellish the court. Zeb. 54b (play on בנוית, ISam. XIX, 18) וכ׳ של בנויו עוסקין engaged in the em- bellishment of the world (consulting about building the Temple).
