נידה, v. נדה.
נידוי, נד׳ m. (נדה) banishment, isolation. Num. R. s. 10 ב׳ תהא (Sabb. 64b, a. e. בנדתה), v. נדה. -Esp. ex- communication, of a higher degree than נזיפה and lesser than חרם. M. Kat. 16a וכ׳ פחות נ׳ אין nidduy lasts no ess than thirty days. Ib. ׳ נידויו the excommunication pronounced by him is valid. Ber. 19a נ׳ עליך גוזרני I should have decreed the ban over; a. fr.
נידויא ch. same. Ned. 7b (ref. to מנורה, v. נדה) לישנא היא ד׳ it has the meaning of excommunication (as if he had said נדינא, v. נדי I).

ניהו m. =איהו (mostly after an open syllable to avoid a hiatus, or after ן) he, hismself; it, it is. B. ניוול m. (נול) ugliness; disgrace. M. Kat. I, 7 מפני לה הוא שנ׳ because it defaces her (for the time being); Y. Ab. Zar. I, 39b bot. ניבול. Snh. VII, 3 (52b) זה הוא נ׳ this (the Roman way of decapitation with the sword) is a. repulsive disfigurement. Y. Sot. III, end, 19b אשה אאבל וכ׳ מרובה שניוולה סיי על but a womman, because her dis- grace (feeling of shame) is greater, must not be executed naked. Ib. 18d bot. ניוולה תחת . . המקום the Lord will indemnify her for her (unmerited) exposure. Yalk. Prov. 943 נוול של חיים a hideous life (without enjoyment). ניחא II m. (preced.; v. נוח) ease, satisfaction. Yeb. 118b וכ׳ דגופא נ׳ bodily comfort (even in an unhappy marriage) is preferable (to singleness). Snh. 45a, v. בזיונא. Sabb. 132a וכ׳ ליה נ׳ קא מאי מעיקרא what satisfactory reason had he at first (for his interpretation), and what was again the objection he attempted to meet? -. לי נ׳ one likes, prefers. Targ. Y.
