ניסאי, נ׳ הר pr. n. (v. נס) lMount Nissay (Miracle), a substitute for Siinai, introduced for argument. Sabb. 89a (against one explaining סיני הר as ניסים בו שנעשו הר, the mount whereon miracles were wrought for Israel) ליה מיבעי ׳ הר then its name ought to have been Har Nissay; v. סימנאי.
ניסה f. (נוס) flight. Sot. VIII, 6 נפילה נ׳ שתחלת, cor- rected ib. 44b (as in Y. ed.) ׳ נפילה שתחלת for the be- ginning of falling (in laughter) is the rout; Y. ib. VIII, end, 23a; Sifre Deut. 198 נפילה ׳ שתחלת for the beginning of fight means falling.
ניסוך, נס׳ m. (סך) 1) libation. Succ. IV, 1 המים נ׳ שבעה the water libation (on the Succoth festival) is con- tinued for seven days. Y. ib. 54d top; Tosef. ib. III, 15 בקדושה ניפוכו at its libation the laws of sanctity must be observed; (Tosef. Meil. I, 16 נסיכתו). Zeb. VI, 2. Snh. 62a ׳ iibation to idols; a. fr. -- Pl. ניפוכים, ניפוכין, נס׳. Gen. R. s. 78, end יעקב ניסך ׳ כמה how many libations Jacob performed. ניסחנא m.; pl. יסחני, נס׳ (סח, v. Af) [despaired of, given up,] palms which aever mature their fruits, male palms; ד׳ fruits of nishane, stunted dates which cease growing early in the spring (נימ). Pes. 53a בד׳ קן he selected for felling (in the Sabbatical year) palimis whose fruits had reached their limited maturity. Erub. 28b בדנ׳ התם there it means fruits of the nishane (which having reached their maturity are considered as food). Ib. בנ׳ לאו (read בדנ׳, v. Rabb. D. S. a. l. note 60) it does not mean fruits of the n. -- [Ms. M. נסחני, Var. ניסאני, Ar. ניסני, v. Rabb. D. S. to Erub. l. c. -- The Var. ניסאני, dialect. for ניסה׳(cmp. נסח a. נסע) gave rise to etymological derivation from ניסן.]

ניסן (b. h.; v. Fr. Del. Proleg.. p. 136, note) Nisan, the first month of the Hebrew calendar, containing thirty days, varying between the sixteenth of March and the eighth of May. R. Hash. I, 1 וכ׳ דאש בנ׳ באחד on the first of Nisan begins the royal year. Ib. 2b וכ׳ בכ׳ . . בנ׳ מת if a king dies in N, and his successor ascends the throne in N., we count a year for the one, and one (the first year) for the other; a. v. fr.
