Pes. 119a (play on למנכח) ושמח אותו שנוצחין למי זמרו sing to him who rejoices when they conquer him (prevail over him to change his evil decrees); Midr. Till. to Ps. IV. Pesik. R. s. 40 וכ׳ לדור נצחתי Iconquered the generation of the flood and was the loser by if, because Idestroyed &c. Ib. וכ׳ משה נצחני Moses conquered me c. . , and I gained all those masses; a. fr. -- Part. pass. נצוח. Ib. שאני בשעה וכ׳ ׳ שאני ובשעה . נוצח when I prevail, I lose, but when I am prevailed over, I gain; a. e. Pi. נצח 1) to make illustrious, to glorify. Midr. Till. l. c. נצח ch. same, 1) to be glad, to sing. Targ. II Esth. I, 2 וכ׳ נצח והוה it few singing among&c. - 2) to succeed, thrive. Targ. Koh. XI, 2. -- 3) to be victorious. Targ. O Ex. XXXII, 18, v. גצחא; a. e. - Y. Sot. IX, 24b טליא נצחו the boys (John Hyrcan's sons) have won the battle; Bab. ib. 33a; Tosef. ib. XIII, 5. Tam. 32a, v. סטנא; a. e. Pa. נצח to conguer, overpomwer. צח m. נצחתf. (b. h.; preced.) successful, convincing, irrefutable. Snh. 105a (ref. to Jer. VIII, 5) השיבה ׳ תשובה וכ׳ the congregation of Israel defeated the prophets with an irrefutable argument.
נצח m. (b. h.; preced.) success. endurance; (adv.) forever. Erub.54a וכ׳ ׳ שנאמר מקום כל wherever the Biblical text has the words netsoh, selah, or va'ed, it means &c., v. הססק. -- Pl. נצחים. Midr. Till. to Ps. IV, v. ניצוח.

נצחון, ני׳ m. (preced. wds.) 1) victory, strength. Sot. VIII, 1וכ׳ של בניצחונו(Y. ed.בוד בנצחת, corr. acc) relying on the strength of &c.; a. e. - 2) praise, song. Midr, Till. to Ps. LXXXIV; Yalk. Ps. 833 ׳ עליה נותן . . . שרואה מי כל whoever sees that wine press (Is. LXIII, Isq.), gives forth songs over it.

נציב m. (גצב; cmp. יציבא) permanent resident, opp. גר. Gen. R. s. 64 (ref. to שכן, Gen. XXVI, 2) שכונה עשה נ׳ הוי זורע הוי נוטע הוי . . make a settlement in the land of Israel, be a planter, be a sower, be a citizen.
