סלח (b. h.; cmp. סלל) [Assyr. to sprinkle,] to forgive. Y. Yoma VIII, end, 45c וכ׳ על לי ותסלח and forgive me all my sins. Num. R. s. 16, end להם אסלח בשבילך for thy sake I will pardon tthem. Tanh. Ki Thissa 27 כדבריך וסלחתי and I pardoned (Israel) according to thy word; a. fr. Nif. סלח to be forgiven. Yalk. Ps. 755 לו ו׳ (Midr. Till. to Ps. XLVIII ומתכפר) and he is forgiven.

סלי, סלא, סלה (b. h.) to soing. Hif. הסליא, Pi. סילא 1) [to make rise,] to balance, outweigh. Snh. 82b (play on ססלוא, Num. XXV, 14) שה׳ על וכ׳ because he outweighed the sins of his family; [oth. opin.; he cansed the ins of his family to rise, i. e. become notorious]; Tanh. Pinh. 2; Yalk. Num. 772; Num.
