פוליפוס m. (~o~~~~) polypus, a morbid growth in the nose. Keth. VII, 7 וכ׳ פ׳ ובעל . . . שכופין ואלו the following persons are forced to divorce their wives; one stricken with a skin disease, with a polypus &c.; expl. ib. 77a החוטם ריח whose nose is ill-smelling; הפה ריח whose mouth is &c.; Tosef. ib. VII, 11. Sabb. 109a מעלה יד פ׳ an unwashed hand (touching the nose) generates a.. polypus. Midr. Till. to Ps. VII, 10 . . . חוטא והוא רשע פ׳ מעלה וחוטמה a violent man and sinner (against God) is like an ungainly woman who has a polypus besides; a. e. -- Pl. פולפסין (sub. בעלי) afficted with polypus. Y. Hag. פולמוס m. (~~~~~~) war, esp. war with thelomans. Sot. פולסא m. (פלס; cmp. b. h. פלס) circular plate or ring used as weight and as uncoined money (v. פילס). B. Mets. 47b (expl. אסימון, ib. IV, 1) פ׳ (Ar. פילסא) uncoined metal. Sabb. 65a פ׳ לה ליעבד eet him use any circular plate for it (instead of a coin, סלע). -- Pl. פולסין, פולסי. Lev. R. s. 37 פ׳ עשרה אנתתיה ליה יהבת וכ׳ (not יהבי) his wife gave him ten pulsin, saying, buy something &c. - דנורא פ׳ heated disks or rings strung on a lash. B.
