פציחאי m. pl. (preced.) inhabitants of unwalled places. Targ. Esth. IX, 19.
פצים m. (פצם) board. Sabb. VIII, 7 פ׳ בין ליתן כדי לחבירו as much as is required between one board and another (when they are piled up). - [Maasr. I, 7 הפצים, v. פן]-- Esp. the board nailed against the mall to forom a door-frame, door-post. Men. 34a אחד פ׳ אלא לו ששין בית a room which has only one door-post (the corner wall serving for the other post). Ib. 33b בפצים הניחה Rashi, v. פן. -- Pl. פצימין. פציעה f. (פצע) 1) splitting, cracking. Sabb. 75a פ׳ דישה בכלל opening the purple snail (squeezing the fluid out) is an act coming under the category of threshing. ר 2) an open wound. -- Pl. פציעות. Snh. 37b; Tanh. B'resh. 9, a. e. פ׳ פ׳ several wounds, contrad. to חבורות. Y. Kil. IX, end, 32d פ׳ בראשו היו (not פצעיות בראשי) if one has several wounds on his head.
פצל (b. h.; cmp. בצל) to split, peel. Pi. פיצל to split, divide, branch of; to peel, lay bare. Bekh. VI, 5, v. infra. - Part. pass. מפוצל; f מפוצלת; pl. מפושלים, מפועלין; מפוצלות. Men. XI, 6(96a) מראשידן מ׳ (Mish. ed. מופצלין) forked at the top; Tosef. ib. XI, 7; Yalk. Ex. 369. Hull. 59b מפ׳ (קרנים) forked horns (antlers). Yalk. Ps. 685, v. infra. Hif. הפציל 1) to split, divide. Bekh. VI, 5 (39b) . . היה עצם מפציל Mish. (Bab. ed. מפפעל) if the top end (root) of the tail divides the bone (i. e. if the backbone is branched at the place where the tail begins; Rashi מפציל העצם את peels the backbone, i.e. if the end of the backbone is bare of skin and flesh). - 2) to form branches, branch of. Yoma 29a לכאן מפצילות קרניה זו אילה מה וכ׳ מפציע זה שחר אף ולכאן as the antlers of the hind branch off this way and that way, so the light of dawn spreads &c.; (Yalk. Ps. 685 וכ׳ מפצל . . . מפוצלות...). Yoma l. c. מפצילות קרניה שמגדלת זמן כל as long as it grows, its antlers form additional branches every year; Yalk. l. c. - 3) to form streaks, to wrinkle. Nidd. 47a (expt. משיכסיף) החוטם ראש משיפציל (Ar. משיפצל) when the skin of the central circle of the oblate part of the breast appears wrinkled. Niff. נפצל to be peeled, streaked, v. supra.
פצל ch. same, to peel, skim. Y. Bets. V, 63a, v. כא. Ithpa. איפצל, Ithpe.איפציל to be split, branch of. Yoma 71b, a. e. מיפצלא איפצולי עמרא wool (on the sheep) splits off (does not grow like stalks); מסציל איפצולי נמי כיתנא but flax also splits; vv. כיתן. Hull. 59b דמיפצלא היכא וכ׳ דין לא when the horn is branched, there is no question (that the animal belongs to the beasts of chase, חיה). -- Erub. 29b, v. בצל.
פצם (b. h. פצם; cmp. פצי, a. preced.) to split, break. Pa. פעים to break open, frame an aperture. Targ. Jer. XXII, 14 (h. text קרע). -- V. פפים.
פצע (b. h.; cmp. preced.) 1) to split, crack or squeeze open; to wound. B. Kam. 93a לפטור מנת על פצעני הכני פטור (if one said to one's neighbor) strike me, wound me, with the condition that thou be free (from indemnity) he is free. Ib. וכ׳ לפטור מנת על פצעני הכני (if he said) 'strike me, wound me, (and he is aked,) with the con- dition that I shall be free?, and he answers, yes. Sabb. VII, 2 חוטין שני הפוצע he who divides off two threads (on the oom). Tosef. ib. VIII (IX), 21 וכ׳ לפצוע כדי Iarge enough to divide with it two threads (on each side) at a time. Yalk.
