פרגוד m. (paragauda, ~~~~~~ of Semitic origin; פרג to divide, cmp. פרוכת) 1) curtain. Kel. XXIX, 1Maim. (R. S. tunic, v. infra). - Esp. (cmp. וילון) the curtain of heaven. Hag. 15a וכ הפ׳ מאחורי שמעתי כבר Ihave already heard from behind tthe Curtain, Return, ye wayward children, all except Aher. Yoma 77a Ms. M. (omitted in later editions; v. Rabb. D. S. a. l. note 3). B. Mets. 59a שלשה בפניהם ננעל הפ׳ אין there are three wrongs for which the Curtain is never closed (the outcries over them will not be unheeded). - Trnsf. the court, royal attendants. Mekh. פרגול פרגל m. (adaptation of fagellum, ~~~th- haos; cmp. פרכיל) whip, scourge young vine shoot. Lev. R. s. 32, beg. (ref. to Zech. XIII, 6) זכ׳ בפ׳ לוקה לך מה why art thou whipped with the scourge ? Because I made a Succah; Mekh. Yithro, Bahod., s. 6 פ׳ מאה לוקה לך מה (not מאפ) why art tthou o get a hundred ashes ; Yalk. Ex. 292; Yalk. Zech. 581; Midr. Till. to Ps. XII, end מה בפוראגוון לידקר יוצא לד (ed. Bub. בפרוגין לוקה לך מה, corr. acc.). Tosef. Kel. B. Mets. IV, 4 וכ׳ בראשו שעשה פ׳ a whip to the top of which a knob is attached to strike with it. Y. B. פרגזתא f. ch. same, a woman's dress, tunic. Y. Sabb. VI, beg. 7a [read;] טלייה מיתן בון בר דבית ואילין הורי פ׳ על דמרגליתא permitted those (women) of the house of Bar Bun to put drops of pearls (beads) over the tunic.
*פרגיא f. (v. פרג) sprouting. Y. Taan. III, 66d top פשתן של ׳ על מתריעין we sound the Shofar (for prayer) when the flax ln the field is threatened with ruin through sprouting (ref. to Jer. V, 30) (v. Mish. ib. 5).
