קיחה f. (לקה) 1) = לקיחה, taking, acquiring. Yeb. 97a (ref. to Lev. XX, 11414) רמאנ ןאכו הביכש רמאנ ןללוכב ׳כו ׳ק with reference to all of them the word sleeping' is used, but here (v. 14) 'taking is used, to intimate that the law punishes the marriage only (and not the sexual connection out of wedlock). Ib. ׳כו אוה ׳ק ךנה ימנ יכה do you really say with reference to these (v. 17) that the law forbids only marriage? (Answer) יוארה . . ןיחוקיל ׳כו ׳ק ׳קל the verb lakcah is used as a general torm; where a regular marriage might have taken place (under other circumstances), the text prohibits marriage; where only sexual connection can be meant, the verb lakah has the meaning of shakhab. Kidd. 2a, a. e. ׳כו ׳ק ׳ק רמג we learn the mode of acquiring (לקח in Deut. XXII, 13) from the acquisition of the field of Ephron (Gen. XXIII, 13 קח); Hull. 82a; a. fr. - Pl. תוחיק. Yoma 3b ׳כו אמלעד ׳קב in general cases where the text uses חק, .. , but here (EEx. XXX, 23) it says expressly לך קח (take unto thee, at thy own expense). -- 2) [handle,] leather thong, loop. -- Pl. as ab. Kel. XVI, 4 ויתוחיק . . . למרותה (Ar. ׳היק, Var. ׳חיק) the shepherd's bag is susceptible of uncleanness, when one has made the rim, trimmed it, and attached the thongs with which to tie it up. Ib. קיחותיה the thongs of the leather spread.

קיטון m. (~~cw) bed-chamber. Y. Snh. XI, end, 30c, a. e., v. ןילקירט. Y. B. Bath. IX, 16d bot. ׳קב ותפוח התיה וכ׳ if his bridal chamber was in the bedroom (of his father's house), and he (the fither) made the wedding meal for him in the dining room. Gen. R. s. 7. Ex. R. s. 33 ׳כו דחא ׳ק . . . םוקמ לכ wherever you go, havs a. bedroom ready for me that I may dwell with you; a. fr. -- Pl. תונוטיק. Midd. I, 6 four cells ׳כו תוחותפ ׳קכ like bedrooms commnniicatiing with the dining room; Yoma. 15b כקטוניות (corr. acc.).

קיטונית f. (an adapt. of preced., as if fr. קטן) small room, recess. Succ. 3a ׳כו ׳קב העתי יהיאו Ms. M. (ed. תוינ . , corr. acc.) she (the queen) sat in the recess (of the Succah) as a matter of decency. --- Pl. תוינוטיק. קיטונתא, קב׳, ק׳ בן pr. n. m. Ben -Kittanta, surname of one Jose (v. תינושק). Sot. IX, 15 (Y. ed. 17; Bab. 49a) ק׳ בן יוסי Y. ed. (Bab. ed. קטנתא בן, Mish. ed. אתונטק יסוי); Y. b. IX, end, 24c ׳וטק יסוי; Tosef. ib. XV, 5 קיטנית בן . . . יוסי אבה (Var. קטנתא איש). Y. B. Kam. III, 3a התנוטק יסוי אוה . . . ילבבה יסוי אוה Iose the Baby- lonian, J. b. *קיטועה f. (קטע) mutilation; trnsf. (sub. בן) m. de- structive, mischievous. Ab. d'R. N. ch. XL קרן אותו קורא ק׳ נקוב (not אותן) called him (who adopts the worthless and rejects the good teachings) a perforated horn (box), a. kid ah; ׳כו קוניה הז דציכ ׳ק how does a k. act? Like a child to whom you gave pearls, and when you giive him bread, he throws the pearls away &c., and וwhen you. give him a piece of a clay vessel, he throws the 'breadi away &c.; [Var. קטע, קוטע, v. ed. Schechter p. סד, note].
קיטוף, קב׳ m. (קטף) 1) plucking ears, opp. to קציר cutting. Sifra K'dosb. Par. 1, ch. II; Y. Peah III, 17c טקל ׳ק טקל אל ךריצק the leanings of thy harvst' (Lev. XIX, 9), but not the gleanings of plucking. Pes. 11a; Men. 68a ׳כו ׳ק יaע אלא . . ךותמ because you allow him to take of the new crop only by plucking (forbidding regular harvesting before the 0Omer is cut), he will be mindful (that he dare not eat of the produce before the second day of Passover); a. e. - 2) forming and smoothing the surface of dough. Y. Pes. III, 30b top ה . . הרמג וכ׳ קיטופה with the one woman her finishing means her kneading, with the next, her forming the cakes, with the third, her baking.
קיטופא, קב׳ ch. (preced.) plucking, sudden death. Targ. Cant. II, 12 בוכריא קטוף death of the firstborn (h. text הזמיר).
