קיר II (or קור), Pa. קירר (sec. verb of קרר) to cool. Ab. Zar. 38b וכ׳ מבינתא וקיירי (Ms. M. וקרירי) and they cool (the body) from the hair of the head to &c.

קירוב, קר׳ m. (קרב) nearness, contact. Keth. 48a וכ׳ בשר ק׳ זו שארה her sh'er (Ex. XXI, 10), this means the immediate contact of bodies, that he must not treat her in the manner of the Persians &c. Sabb. 13b ימע ןשי בשר בק׳ he slept by my side (under one cover) undressed; Y. Kidd. IV, 66c רשב ׳קב ןהמע ןשיו and he may sleep with them &c. --- B. Bath. 7b ןיבוג ןה םיתב ׳ק יפל forti- fication taxes are raised in proportion to the propinquity of the houses to the city wall. Y. Maas. Sh. I, end, 53a (ref. to Deut. קירוי II m. (קרה I) accident; בק׳ (cmp. עראי) tem- porary. Y. Shek. VI, beg. 49c; Y. Sot. VII, 22a top (ref. to תוכסב, II Sam. XI, 11) ׳כו ׳קב היהש ךכס it means a shelter (lIike booths) which was temporary, since the emple was not yet built; Yalk. Sam. 101 יורק אוהש רפס (corr. acc.).
