קלש (cmp. קלף) to plane, make thin, weaken. Erub. 3a שולק ןנירמא we say, plane it, i. e. consiider it reduced to. a fine film. Ib. השלק יא if thou makest it very thin. Ned. 68a שילק שלקימ does he plane (weaken) it?, v. וג ch. -- Part. pass. שילק, אשילק; f. אשילק, אתשילק thin, weak. Targ. Y. Num. VII, 13 (ed. Vieo. אשילק); ib. 19 (opp. ךימס); a. e. - Taan. 9b ׳ק אביע a light cloud, opp. אתכימס. Sot. 34b אערא ׳קד ידייא because the layer of earth (over the rocky soil) is very ight. קלת f. constr. of קלה =קלל, disgrace of. Snh. 46b אכ תללק יאמ ׳ק ארק אמינ if this were so, the text (Deut. XXI, 23) might have read killath, why does it read kil'lath ? [missing in Ms. M.]

קלת, קלתה f. (~~~~~o, prob. of Semitic origin, v. preced.; v. Lewy, Sem. Fremdw. p. 109) vase-shaped basket, esp. womtan's work-basket. Gitt. VIII, 1 התלק ךותל . . וקרז if he throws the letter of divorce into her lap or into her basket. Ib. 78a התלקכ אוהש רבד לכ any receptacle tthat is designated for her specific use like her basket. B. Mets. 9b ׳כו אחיינ חנימ ׳ק (if he throws the document into her basket on her head,) her basket is at rest, but she moves under it. Keth. 72b top ימד ריפש ׳ק if she goes out with her basket on her head, it is right (she cannot be legally sued for indecent conduct); תידוהי תד ׳כו ׳ק ׳יפא but so far as Jewish custom is concerned, it is improper to go out uncovered even with the basket on the hhead. קלתות f. (cmp. קלת) masonry under a stationary stove, fire place under a portable stoe. Kel. VII, 1; Tosef. ib. B. Kam. V, 5. -l. םיתותלק. Y. Taan. IV, 69b top וחרב ׳כו מהב לש ׳ק ךותל tthey fled into the fire places (stoves) of the Temple, and they were all burned &c. (commment.נ chambers).
