דבא, v. רבי.

רבא, pl. רבתא, v. ריבא.
דדבב (b. h.) 1) to be great, numerous. M. Kat. 28b רבו עונותיו many are his sins. Gen. R. s. 27 (expl. רבה, Gen. VI, 5) והולכת רבה was growing more and more; a. e. - Denom. דב. - 2) to line, v. infra. Pi. דיבב[to make strong, thick,] to ine. Pesik. Zutr. Haaz., ed. Bub. p. 110 שמרבבת, v. רביב. -- Esp. to line a skin wilh pitch (v. חמת). Ab. דבב ch. same, to be great, esp. to be a teacher, be in office. Y. M. Kat. III, 83b top וכ׳ משגחין דרבבינן אנן כגון such as we, who are teachers; people look up to us to answer their questions; ib. וכ׳ דבבינן אפי׳ ואנן and we, although we are teachers, we know not &c.
רבב m. (v. רבב Pi.) a thick, viscid mass, fat; grease, pitch &c. Sot. 49a ר׳ מוכרי . . . אילמלא but for David's prayer, all Israelites would be sellers of grease. Zeb. 98b וכ׳ בגדו על ר׳ grease onn a garment is an unlawful inter- position (at its immersion), but ifhe is a seller of grease &c. Sabb. 20b ר׳ של (מדורה) a fire made with fatty substances. Ib. 78b וכ׳ לסוך כדי ר׳ fat, as much as is required to smear under a small cake. Ib. 114a וכ׳ ר׳ שנמצא תיח כל a scholar on whose garment there is a greasy stain &c.; Rabina. said, איתמר רבד the word rabad was used (by R. Jo- hanan), v. דבד..

דבבה f. (b. h.; רבב) large quantity, myriad. Gen. R. s. 60 (ref. to Gen. XXIV, 60) מיעקב ור׳ . . . ועמדו from her (Rebekah) arose chiefs (allufim) of Esau, and myriads of Jacob; a. e. -- Pl. רבבות, constr. רבי, ריבי. Ib. s. 89 (play on רהבים, Ps. XL, 5) וכ׳ שהם דברביא ריבי המון (he regarded not) the noise of the myriads of great (boastful) men, for they urn after lies (m, however, דברבא). - V. רבוא.

בג (cmp. דבך) to pile up promiscuously, opp. to ערך to arrange. Sifra Vayikra, N'dab, ch. IV, Par. 4 . . . יכול ורובג lest you think that he may cast (the pieces of flesh on the altar) and pile them up; Tosef. Zeb. IV, 2 ודובק (read; ורובק; Var. ורובן).

דבד m. (preced.) a thick patch. Sabb. 114a, v. רבב; (cmp. ib. טלאי ע'ג טלאי); [Rashi; a stain of semen()]
רבדא, רי׳ch. same, patch; trnsf (cmp. נאתא) cicatrix, scab; דכוסילתא ר׳ the scab or scar over the puncture made by bleeding, v. כוסילתא; also the puncture. Snh. 93b וכ׳ דכ׳ ער׳ אפי׳ no imperfection, even so much as the mark of bleeding, was on their bodies. Keth. 39b (Var. in Rashi a. Ar. דסיבורי תרפתא or דסיכורי), v. כוסילתא.

רבהm., דבה t 1) (=דוה) moist, saturated with liquid, opp. עבה thick and pulpy. Y. Pes. X, 37a top שתהא צריכה וכ׳ ר׳ (not צבריה) it (the חרוסת) must be saturated (with wine), which means that it is to remind of blood. -- V, רובה II. - 2) pers. of רבה, v. רבי.
