Keth. psa העיר ר אחר הולכין we are guided by the legal status of the majority of the inhabitants of the town; סיעה ר׳ the majority of the members of the caravan that en- camped near the town. Ib.; Hull. 95a, a. e. הלד בנמצא הו׳ אחר when a piece of meat is found, we go by the majority of the meat stalls (to decide whether it be kasher or not). Ib. 3b, a. e. וכ׳ מצויין ר׳ most of those engaged in laughtering are experts. Sabb. 118b של רובן וע׳ צדיקים most righteous men die from bowel diseases. Hull.II, 1 כמוהו אחד של רובו if one cuts through the larger portion of the organ (v. סימן), it is considered as if he had cut it through. רובא, רובה I m. (b. h. יבה, Gen. XXI, 20; רבה) [growing,] young man, youth. Sot. 26a עקרה שנשא הר׳ וכ׳ a young man who married a barren or an old woman. Y. ib. VIII, 22d bot. דיבה שנשא ר׳ a young man that married a young girrdl; a. e. - Pl. רובים, רובין. Tam. I, 1 שומרים והר׳ שם the young priests held watch there; [aanoth. opinion the archers, v. רבי II]. -- Esp. הר׳ the sons of R. Hiyya. Hull. 20a וכ׳ הר׳ יקבלו let the lads rreceive the answer to their arguments. Y. Hag. III, 79c bot.; a. e.
דובד m. (דבד) 1) mosaic pavement, esp. the paved evdl space between steps in the Temple hall, landing, terrace. Yoma IV, 3 שעהיכל הרביעי הר׳, emended ib. 43b היכל של, the fourth terrace on coming from the hall. Midd. III, 6 וכ׳ שלשה ור׳ . . מעלה רום the height of each step was half a cubit, its depth one cubit each of the three steps, and a landing of three cubits &c. Ib. IV, 4, sq. Tosef. Succ. IV, 23; Tosef. Men. XI, 13 שבאולם הר׳ the pavement in the hall. -- Pl. רובדים, רובדין. Tam. I, 1 היה אבן של ר׳ מוקם was surrounded with stone pavements; Midd. I, 8. Tosef. Ohol. XVII, 1 ובאבנים בר׳ משוקעין sunk in and covered with paving blocks or with (rough) stones. - 2) the interlaced branches of two neighboring trees. -- Pl. as ab. רובה II m. (v. רבה) saturation, sauce, dip. Y. Pes. X, 37a top עמו רבה שהיא ר׳ . . ולמה and why is it (תרוסת) called robeh (saturation)? Because it is saturated with it (the wine that is put in as a sauce).
רובה, דובא m. 1) = דבא, great. Targ. Y. II Lev. X, 19 (ed. Vien. רובא). -- 2) דבה elder, senior. Y. Ber. II, 5b bot. ר׳ הושעיא ר׳. Y. Kil. IX, 32b ר׳ חייא ו׳; a. fr. (interch. with רבה).
רובה I f. (= מרובה) more, larger number. Keth. 103a בר׳ הבית ברכת the blessing of the household increases with the number of its members (every one contribut-- ing towards the comfort of al); B. Bath. 144b; Tosef. Keth. XII, 3 מרובה (corr. acc.).
דובה II m. ch. (הכב) gradation, conclusion a minori ad mafus ( וחומר קל). Y. Peah IV, 18b top יוחנן ׳s ר׳ eaea ור׳ there exists one argument a minori by R. J. and another by R. S. ben L.; וכ׳ מציאה מה . . . ר׳ R. f.'s argu- ment is; if in the case of a find &c. (v. corr. vers in Frankel, Talm. Hierosol.). ר׳׳־, דר׳ (cmp. חומר I) something greater, more restrictive. Y. Sabb. XVII, beg. 16a דלתות וכ׳ דר׳ העלים ודלתות דר׳ הבית (not דרובן) in one respect there is a greater restriction in the law concerning the moving of the doors of a house, and in another respect a greater restriction in the law concerning the doors of furniture; וכ׳ דר׳ דלתות the greater restriction coפe cerning the doors of a house consists in this that they dare not be moved even &c. Y. Ab. Zar. I, 40a top ר׳ וכ׳ מדרבי ביל דריש the opinion of R. S. b. L. goes farther in restriction than that of R. J. Y. Maasr. I, 49a bot. דר׳ לד אימור אתא he comes to tell you something greater. -- Y. Meg. I, 71a top וכ׳ שהספרים דרבה here s something greater (than the difference between scrolls and T'fllin which has been stated); scrolls may be written on either side of the parchment &c.; היא לית עורות בשנו אחד דף דר׳ tthe 'one columii law against the two sides law-- tthis is no gradation. Y. Peah I, 15d top גדול מה דרבה והוא וכ׳ חוב כפריעת . .. (not בפריעת) here is something greater (ust tthe reverse, v.אדרבא); greater is a duty which. is like paying a debt (the filial duty) than &c.; Y. Kidd. I, 61b bot. דרבנין וההיא (corr. acc.).
