רמה, רי׳ f. (b. h.; רמם to move; cmp. רחש a. deriv.) worm, esp. the worm in man's grave. Ber. 18b ר׳ קנשה וכ׳ למת the worm is as painful to the dead body as a. needle in sound flesh. Sot. 5a (play on בשר) סרוחה בושה ו׳ basar (fesh) suggests shame', putrefied', worm'. B. Mets. 83b וכ׳ ותולעה ר׳ אין no worm of any kind shall have power over you. Ab. IV, 4 ר׳ אנוש תקות the prospects of man are worms. Koh. R. to V, 10 ותולעה לר׳ הוא הרי he is (food) for worms; a. fr. -- Pesik. רמון, רי׳ m. (b. h.; רמם, v. רמה) [crowded with seeds, cmp. רחש,] pomegranate. Cant. R.to IV, 4הזה כר׳, v. דיקן.
