שובלתא f. = h. שבולת, current of a river. Targ. Jud. XII, 6 סובלתא ואמר ש׳ כען אימר say now, shubbalta, and he said, subbalta. - Lev. R. s. 37 דנהרא שב׳ להון אאחדת (not יהב) the current of the river seized and carried them off. Cant. R. to III, 4 סובלתא, v. קלף...
שובע, שבע, שבע m. (b.h.; טבע) plenty, satiation. Ber. 55a וכ׳ וש׳ רעב. .. דברים שלשה three things does the Lord himself announce; famine, plenty, and a good leader. Tosef. Pes. V, 3 בש׳ נאכל פסח . . . חגיגה (Var. הש׳ על) the pilgrim's sacrifice...must be eaten first, so that the Pass- over ofering be eaten after the appetite is satisfied; Y. ib. שובר m. (שבר I; cmp. פרע) rcceipt, renunciation. B. Mets. 19b ש׳ מצא if one finds a receipt (of a woman con- cerning her jointure). שודא m. (contr. of שותחדא q. v.) adjudication, dis- cretionary judgment. Gitt. I4b עדיף ש׳ אמרו וכאן and here (in Babylonia) they say, it is better that the messenger use his discretion (to deliver the gift to the heir of he legatee or return it to the donor's heirs). Keth. 94a ש׳ דדיינו the judges use their discretion (to which of the claimants to adjudicate the claim). Ib. 85b. B Bath. 62b; a. fr. - [In Y. שוחדא.]
שודני (, שוד׳) m. (denom. of שיה) man of the field, sportsman; trnsf. catching men by artifice, hypocrite. Gen. R. s. 63 (ref. to Gen. XXV, 27) וכ׳ צד צידני ש׳ a. sportsmman, a hunter, catching &c., v. צוד; Yalk. ib. 110 צודני צדני (corr. acc.).

שוה v. שוי.
טוה, שווה m. שוה, שווה . (שוה) soined eren; fitting, egual; eguivalentt, worth. Succ. 19a מבחויןוש׳ נדאה מבפנים if the post is visible from the outside, but even with the wall from within. Num. R. s. 96 לבני ש׳ הוי אדם be like other men (do not consider thyself exempt from the laws of morality). B. Kam. III, 9 וכ׳ מנה ש׳ שור an ox worth a Maneh that gored an ox worth ttwo hundred Zuz. Ib. I, 3 כסף וש׳ כסף שום valuation of damages is done on the basis of money, and collected from money's worth; ib. 14b וכ׳ מלמד כסף שש׳ money's worth', this means that the court attaches only landed estate (v. אחריות), but if the claimant anticipating the action of the court seized movable chattel &c.; כסף כל הש׳ דבר. . . משמע מאי how is this to be learned from the expression 'money's wort'? .. . A thing which is worth any money (which you pay for it, l.. e. concerning which there is no redress for overrreaching); ib. (another defin.) כסף ולא כסף שש׳ money's worthh' you may attach, but not cash. - פפרוטה ש׳, v. פרוטה. Bicc. II, 6 לאילן ש׳ is like (comes under the category ot) trees. Ib. S,sq.; a. v. fr. -- שש׳ גורה, v. זרה . - הש׳ הצד, v. צד. - Ab. d'R. N. ch. XVI משתתנני המות לי ש׳ וכ׳ death would have been more acceptable to me than thy giving me away tto this man, i. e. I should have chosen death rather than be married to this man. -- Pl. שוים, שוין, שוו׳; שוות. Yoma VI, 1 וכ׳ ש׳ שניהן שיהיו מצותן t is proper that they two be alike in appearance &c.
