שבתא, v. שיטא, a. שיטתא. טי m. (b. h) ofering, gtft, tribute. Yalk. Is. 288 (ref. to שילה יבא כי עד Gen. XLIX, 10) יובל כי עד ביה קרי לו שי read it, until tribute is brought to him. ׳Pirke d'R. שיאור m. (v. שאור) leavening; (sub. עיסת) dough beginning to ferment. Pes. III, 5 ישרף ש׳ dough beginning to ferment (on Passover) must be burnt, contrad. tto סיווק, Ib. וב׳ כקרבי ש׳ איזהו dough is called siur, when the cracks on the surface spread like the horns of locusts; (anoth. opin.) וכ׳ שהכסיפו כל, v. כסף. שיבא m. (v. שבב) 1) chip. Hor. 3b, v. כשורא. B. Bath. 36b וכ׳ דכרבא וש׳ ש׳ כל אמד מימר(Ms. M. שיבי, pl., v. Rashb. a. l.) (the owner of a field which he allows another man to plough) may think, let every chip of the plough go into it (the soil), i. e. he does not care to protest as long as his neighbor derives no benefit from his field; [anoth. opin., v. infra]. -Ab. שיבאי m. (שבה) a species of spider. Tosef. Par IX (VIII), 6, quot. in R. S. to Par. IX, 2 (ed. שיבאו, Var. שואבו, corr. acc., or שובאי).
שיבבא, שיב׳, שב׳ (cmp. סבב) neighbor. Targ. Ex. XII, 4(Y. ed. Vien. שיכמ, corr. acc.). - Pl. שיבבין, שיבבי. Targ. Y. Deut. XXIV, 17 (not שיבבון). Targ. II Kings IVV, 3 (ed. Sot. 22a . . . אלמנה ההיא בשיבבותה a widow in whose neighborhood was a syna- pogue; בשיבבות ... לא is there no synegogue in thy own neighborhood Taan. 23b בשיבבותן. . . הנהו (it happened on account) of those lawless people that; lived in their neighborhood. שיבה f. (b. h.; שוב) going back, return; use of the root שוב. Sifra M'tsora, Neg., cb. IV, Par. 7(ref. to Lev..XIV, 39, a. 43) וכ׳ להלן האמורה ש׳ מה as the coming back mentioned there refers to the lapse of a week, so it does here. Ib. ש׳ היא זו, v. ביאה II; Men. 4a. Macc. 13a מהתם ש׳ ש׳ במר we learn the meaning of שוב (Num. XXXV, 28) from שוב there (Lev. XXV, 41), i.. e. he is restored to his ancestral estate; a. e.
שיבה f. (b. h.; v. סב) gray hair, old age, venerability of old age. Pirke d'Rt. El. ch. LII נזרקה לא . . שברא מיום וכ׳ ש׳ since heaven and earth were created, the white of old age was not sprinkled upon menn, until Abraham came &c. Gen. R. s. 59 (ref. to Ps. LXXI, 18) זקנה היא לא ש׳ לי חן. . . אלא ש׳ היא ולא are not עikknah and sebah the same? But (David prayed), if thou givest me old age, give me its venerable appearance with it. Ab.
