שלוכתא f. (a fctitious word, as if fr. שלך) cast away. Erub. 53b a Galilean woman (that wanted to say sh'lubti, my attached friend, v. שלב) said וכ׳ שלוכתי (Ms. M. שלוותי) my cast-away &c., v. לבא.
שלולא m. (שלל) embryo, birth. Targ. Y. I Deut. XIV, 7 -V. שלילא.
שלולית f. (שלל II) 1) pool, pond, rivulet. Peah II, 1 והש׳ הנחל a brook or a pool; B. Bath. 55a; B. Kam. 61a, expl. ib. שם שוללין . . . מקום a place where the rain makes booty (inroads); oth. expl. וכ׳ שלל שמחלקת המים אמת a. water arm which imparts &c., v. אגף; Men. 71b;Sifra K'dosh. Par. 1, ch. II. Tosef. B. Kam. VI, 23; Y. ib. VI, end, 5a; Bab. ib. 61a וכ׳ ש׳ או נהר עברה if the fire crosses a river or a pol eight cubits wide. - 2) deposit after inundation, alluvinm. B. שלום Im. (b. h.; שלם) 1) peace, salvation; salutation. Lev. R. s. 9 בשש׳ חותמין . . ש׳ גדול peace is something great, for all benedictions, good tidings, and consol- ations . . close with peace. Num. R. s. 21, beg. כלי אין 'שש׳ אלא no vessel contains blessing but peace; blkts. III, 12, a. e., v. חזק. Ber. 14a וכ׳ ש׳ משיב may return a salutation to any person. Ib. וכ׳ ש׳ הנותן כל he who offers salutation to his neighbor before prayer, is con- sidered as if he made him a highplace (worshipping man before God). Shebi. IV, 3 ש׳ דרכי מפני בשלומן ושואלין and you must salute them (gentiles in the field) &c., v. דרך; Y. ib. 35b עליכם ש׳ ישראל בשלום בשלומן שואלין מהו how must we salute them? As we salute Israelites, peace be upon you.' Tam. I, 3 ש׳ הכל ש׳ אמרו . . הגיעו when they(the two parties patrolling thoTemple) met, they said, peace?' (answer) all peace' (everything is in good order); Lev. R.l, c. SifraVayikra, Par. I3, ch. XVI וכ׳ ש׳ שהוא מי he who is at peace offers peace-offerings, opp. אונן; v. שלם. Ib. the peace-offerings are called sh'laminm, בהן ש׳ שהכל be- cause everything in them is at peace (is turned to use; Yalk. Lev. 458 משומיט). Ber. 39b (play on the name שלמן) וכ׳ אתה ש׳ thou art peace (perfection), and thy teaching is perfect (v. שלם); a. v. fr. --וש׳־ חס, v. חס. - 2) (adv.) safely, unimpaired. T'bul Yom IV, 7, a. e. ש׳ שתעלה that it will be brought up safely, v. שבר I. -- Pl. שלומות. Num. R. s. 13 15 וכ׳ ש׳ שני עושה produces two conditions of peace, peace above and peace below. Yalk. Is. 340 רוב ארבעה וכ׳ ש׳ (uot שלומית) four times in the Scriptures peace' appears in connection with 'abundance.'-- Ch. v. שלמא.
