תיקון, תקון m. (חקן) 1) preparation, esp. making fruitsapailable byseparatingthe tithes, thepriest'sshare&c. Y. Dem. III, beg. 23b תיקונו כדי לו נותן (not תיקולו) wwe give a quantity large enough for him to separate the tithe, i. e. we give him a larger quantity, so that after deducting the gifts he should have as much as is due to hhim; a. e. -- 2) establishment, institution; amendmeat, making right. Gitt. IV, 2, a. fr. העולם ת׳ מפני for the sake of the social order. Succ. V, 2 גדול ת׳ שם ומתקנין and they introduced a great improvement there; ib. גדול ת׳ מאי וכ׳ what was that great improvement? תירוש m. (b. h.; ירש Ges.; cmp., however, רשש) juice, must, wwine. Tosef. Ned. IV, 3 ביין ומותר . . . הח׳ מן הנודר he that vows abstinence from tirosh is forbidden all kinds of sweet juice, but is permitted (fermented) wine; Y. ib, VII, 40b bot. חירושך ת׳ אותו קראת התורה . . דאמר כמאן היין זה this is according to him who says, that in vows we follow the ordinary usage, but according to him who says that we must be guided by Biblical usage, the Bible calls it (wine) tirosh; thy tiroshh' (Deut.
