THE DREAM
In the night, the night and the dark,
I dreamed me a dream.
What that its hope lay stark
With the dawn's first gleam?
What that I closed its eyes
And went my way?
All through the calm, the wise,
The passionless day,
I smiled at the glamor called light,
So cold did it seem,
And followed a ray from the night,
From the dark, from the dream.
I dreamed me a dream.
What that its hope lay stark
With the dawn's first gleam?
What that I closed its eyes
And went my way?
All through the calm, the wise,
The passionless day,
I smiled at the glamor called light,
So cold did it seem,
And followed a ray from the night,
From the dark, from the dream.
