OBITUARY.

DR. T. F. HENDERSON.

Mr. Thomas Finlayson Henderson, LL.D., has died at Kilmacolm in his 70th year. The son of the Rev. Archibald Henderson, and born at Lathones, Fife, Dr Henderson was a fellow-student at St Andrews University with Andrew Lang. After graduating, he was for several years on the staff of the "Encyclopaedia Britannica," and he contributed numerous Scottish biographies to the "Dictionary of National Biography," and articles to the Cambridge History of English Literature. He was associated with the late W. E. Henley in "The Centenary Burns," and wrote a life of the poet as well as "The Auld Ayrshire of Robert Burns." His other works included a publication on the Casket Letters, "Old-World Scotland," "History of Scottish Vernacular Language," "Life of Mary Queen of Scots," "The Royal Stewarts," and "Scotland of To-day." In 1914 the University of St Andrews conferred the honorary degree of LL.D. upon him.
