Pitts, Arthur, s. Arthur, last-named, chorister of All Souls' Coll., scholar of Brasenose Coll. in and before 1565; went to the English college at Douay, taken and imprisoned on coming to England, released and shipped to Normandy Feb., 1584, D.D. at Douay, and chancellor to the cardinal at Loraine; returned to England in 1625, "titular archdeacon of London, Westminster, and the suburbs;" died 1634, buried in the church of Rotherfield Peppard.
