Beaufort, Sir Francis, created D.C.L, 12 June, 1839 (then captain R.N.), rear-admiral (retired list), 1846, K.C.B. 29 April, 1848, hydrographer to the navy, 1832-55, for an account of his services, see O'Byrnes' Naval Biographical Dictionary (son of Rev. Daniel Augustus Beaufort, D.D., rector of Navan, etc., co. Meath), died 17 Dec., 1857, leaving issue.
