Carlisle, Nicholas (F.R.S. and secretary A.S.), created D.C.L. 1 July, 1835, a gentleman of the privy chamber, assistant-librarian to the Royal Library 1812, originally a purser E.I.C.S., secretary to Society of Antiquaries 1807, compiled topographical dictionaries of the four kingdoms, and histories of the families of Carlisle and of Bland, author of 'an account of Foreign Orders of Knighthood' 1839, died at Margate 27 Aug., 1847.
