Harcourt, Edward (Venables) Vernon (born at Sudbury, co. Derby), s. George (Vernon), Baron (Vernon), Christ Church, matric. 2 July, 1774, aged 16; B.C.L. 1780, D.C.L. 1786, archbishop of York 1807-47, bishop of Carlisle 1791-1807, lord high almoner to George III, and Queen Victoria, assumed the additional surname of Harcourt by royal licence 15 Jan., 1831, died 5 Nov., 1847.
