Cambridge, Dublin, Edinburgh, and Glasgow, M.D. 1839, president Royal Society 1873-8, entered the navy in 1839, K.C.S.I. 2 June, 1877, C.B. 6 Nov., 1869 (son of Sir Wiiliam Jackson Hooker, F.R.S.).
