Merton Coll., matric. 15 Oct., 1864, aged 18; Charsley Hall, B.A. 1868, M.A. 1872, assumed the additional final surname of Herbert in 1875, her Majesty's inspector of schools 1874, sometime an assistant-master Bromsgrove School, married, 6 Jan., 1876, Lady Jane White, daughter of William, 3rd Earl of Bantry.
