Lowth, Robert, s. William, of Hants, cler. St. John's Coll., matric. 26 March, 1729, aged 18; fellow New Coll., B.A. 1733, M.A. 1737, D.D. (by diploma) 8 July, 1754, archdeacon of Winchester 1750, preb. of Durham 1755, professor of poetry 1741-51, bishop of St. David's 1766, of Oxford 1766-77, and of London 1777-87, declined the primacy, died 3 Nov., 1787.
