Marsden, William, created D.C.L. 28 June, 1786, born at Vervel, co. Wicklow (eldest son of John Marsden, D.D.), orientalist and antiquary, F.R.S. 1783, F.S.A. 1785, and secretary to the admiralty about 1795, died 6 Oct., 1836.
