Mitchell, Sir Thomas Levingston; created D.C.L. 12 June, 1839 (son of John Mitchell), F.R.S., F.R.G.S., surveyor-general, joined the army in the Peninsula in 1809, was commissioned to survey the battlefields of the Peninsula, surveyor-general Eastern Australia 1827, knighted 17 April, 1839, colonel 1854, died 5 Oct., 1855.
