Parry, Admiral Sir William Edward, created D.C.L. 1 July, 1829 (y.s. Caleb Hillier Parry, of Bath, D.Med.); the Arctic explorer, commanded the expedition of 1819, 1821-3, and 1827, knighted May, 1829, F.R.S., hydrographer to the admiralty 1823-6 and 1827-30, etc., captain-superintendent Greenwich Hospital, rear admiral 1852, died 8 July, 1855 (his father died 9 March, 1822, aged 66).
