Saumarez, Admiral Sir James, Bart., g.c.b., created D.C.L. 16 June, 1814 (son of Matthew Saumarez, of Guernsey), a distinguished naval officer, knighted 6 Nov., 1793, nominated K.B. 1801, created a baronet 13 June, 1801, and Baron de Saumarez 15 Sep., 1831, died 9 Oct., 1836. See Foster's Peerage.
