Stephenson, Robert, m.p., f.r.s., created D.C.L. 24 June, 1857 (only son of George Stephenson, the inventor of the locomotive), president of the Institute of Civil Engineers 1835-55, M.P. Whitby 1847, until his death 12 Oct., 1859.
