​Williams, 'of Kars,' General Sir William Fenwick, Bart., G.C.B., created D.C.L. 24 June, 1857 (s. Thomas); created a baronet 18 July, 1856, for his defence of Kars against Russia, G.C.L.H., knight of the Medjidie, M.P. Calne 1856-9, colonel commandant royal artillery, commandant Woolwich 1856-9, commander of forces in Canada 1859-65, lieut.-governor Nova Scotia 1865, governor of Gibraltar 1870-5, constable of the Tower of London 1881, until his death 26 July, 1883.
