An Act to continue for a limited time the several Acts therein mentioned

Preamble.

 Whereas, it is expedient further to continue the Acts hereinafter mentioned, which would otherwise expire at the end of the present Session : Therefore, Her Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Senate and House of Commons of Canada, enacts as follows :

Act or Prov. of Canada, 28 V. c. 1, continued

1. The Act of the Parliament of the late Province of Canada, passed in the Session held in the twenty-eighth year of Her Majesty's reign, intituled : An Act for the prevention and repression of outrages in violation of the Peace on the Frontier of this Province, and for other purposes, is hereby continued to the first day of January, one thousand eight hundred and sixty-nine, and from thence until the end of the then next ensuing Session of the Parliament of Canada, and no longer.

2. The Act of the Parliament of the late Province of Canada, passed in the seventh year of Her Majesty's reign, and intituled :
7 V. c. 10
An Act to repeal an Ordnance of Lower Canada, intituled : An Ordnance concerning Bankrupts, and the administration and distribution of their estates and effects, and to make provision for the same object throughout the Province of Canada, and the Act amending the same, passed in the ninth year of Her Majesty's reign, and intituled :
9 V. c. 30
An Act to continue and amend the Bankrupt Laws now in force in this Province, in so far as the same are continued by and for the purposes mentioned in the Act passed in the twelfth year of Her Majesty's reign, and intituled :
12 V. c. 18
An Act to make provision for the continuance and completion of proceedings in Bankruptcy now pending, and the said last mentioned Act ; and the Act of the said Parliament, passed in the Session held in the thirteenth and fourteenth years of Her Majesty's reign, and intituled :
13, 14 V. c. 20, continued
An Act to afford relief to Bankrupts in certain cases, shall respectively be and they are hereby continued, and shall remain in force as respects the Provinces of Quebec and Ontario only, until the said first day of January, one thousand eight hundred and sixty-nine, and thence until the end of the next ensuing Session of the Parliament of Canada, and no longer.

3. And whereas certain Provident Institutions or Savings Banks have been established and are now in operation in the Provinces of Quebec and Ontario, under the conditions, privileges, and restrictions made, granted, and imposed by an Act of the Parliament of the late Province of Canada, passed in the Session thereof held in the fourth and fifth years of Her Majesty's reign, intituled : An Act to encourage the establishment of and regulate Savings Banks in this Province, and whereas the time thereby fixed for the continuance and operation of such Savings Banks was extended for the period of five years, by an Act of the said Parliament passed in the Session thereof held in the fourteenth and fifteenth years of Her Majesty's reign, intituled :
14, 15 V. c. 55
An Act to continue for a limited time an Act intituled: An Act to encourage the establishment of and regulate Savings Banks in this Province, and whereas the time thereby limited for the operations of the said Savings Banks was further extended unti 1 the thirtieth day of May, one thousand eight hundred and sixty-two, by an Act of the said Parliament passed in the Session thereof held in the eighteenth year of Her Majesty's reign, intituled :
18 V. c. 96
An Act to regulate Savings Banks and to repeal the Act now in force for that purpose,

and subsequently by the seventieth section of chapter fifty-six of the Consolidated Statutes of Canada ; and whereas it is expedient that the operations of the said Savings Banks should be further continued for a limited time :
The said Acts continued
Therefore, the said first cited Act shall continue and remain in force as regards the Savings Banks mentioned in the said seventieth section, until the first day of January, one thousand eight hundred and seventy, and from thence until the end of the next ensuing Session of the Parliament of Canada, and no longer.
Proviso: This act not to prevent the effect of any Act of this session

4. Provided always, that nothing herein contained shall prevent the effect of any Act passed during the present Session, repealing, amending, rendering permanent, or continuing to any further period than that herein appointed, any of the Acts herein before mentioned and continued, nor shall continue any provision or part of any of the Acts in this Act mentioned, which may have been repealed by any Act passed during the present Session or in any previous Session.
