12. In the beginning was the Word.[1] But that was not the Word which produced the Word.[2] For “the Word was with God.”[3] The Lord is Wisdom; it was not therefore Wisdom that produced Wisdom; for “I was that” says He, “wherein He delighted.”[4] Christ is truth; but “blessed,” says He, “is the God of truth.”
