12. In the beginning was the Word.^[1] But that was not the Word which produced the Word.^[2] For “the Word was with God.”^[3] The Lord is Wisdom; it was not therefore Wisdom that produced Wisdom; for “I was that” says He, “wherein He delighted.”^[4] Christ is truth; but “blessed,” says He, “is the God of truth.”
