A list of physicians and surgeons has a Dr James Macpherson living in Invercargill from 1883 - 1887/8. He was a Freemason, and Freemasons were frequent presenters of papers in these types of institutions. Is it possible that the initial "D" on the paper is incorrect?

Dr James Macpherson resigned from his post as Medical Officer with the Benevolent Institution as he said he was leaving for a post near Sydney.
