Author talk:Eddie August Schneider

Biographical detail edit

He was the youngest certificated pilot in the United States, and the youngest certified airplane mechanic. In 1934 he married Gretchen Frances Hahnen (1902-1986). He died in an airplane crash in 1940, while training another pilot, when a Boeing-Stearman Model 75 belonging to the United States Navy Reserve overtook him and clipped his plane's tail at Floyd Bennett Field.

It appears that Time magazine and the New York Times and the Washington Post have renewed their copyright for all the years covering Eddie Schneider. Articles written by the Associated Press and small independent newspapers appear to have not been renewed. The master list of copyright renewals was checked for each independent newspaper. The master list is subject to change as some renewals of individual articles are found and the list is updated. Most article renewals are for named authors. In some cases the link here may redirect you to Wikidata which has an entry for the original work.

All these entries should have their scan image displayed. There are still a few that have not been linked to the image stored at Commons. This is most likely from the image name at Commons being the series of random numbers and letters assigned when the image was downloaded from the original source. It makes it difficult to find. It may be easier to just download the image again from newspapers.com rather than sort through the almost 100 news articles on the topic looking for the missing few articles. They also may not have been loaded to Commons from Flickr or may only reside on my desktop computer. The uploading and indexing was interrupted in 2005 and did not restart until 2020.

There are non news agency articles authored by the New York Times and authored by the Washington Post from the same period but they had their copyrights renewed. These are not listed here.

All red linked works are stored at Wikimedia Commons while waiting to be transferred here. In some cases it may be difficult to find the image, because it was stored under a name that may not correspond to the article title used here. In those cases it may be easier to download the article again from Newspapers.com or to find a different publication that used the same Associated Press source material and modify the the title of the red entry here.
