Deacon, Harry Collings, vocalist, teacher, and writer, born London, 1822. He studied pf. under Cip. Potter, and singing under Mazzucato the elder. He lost his voice while he was studying at Milan, and he afterwards resided in London as a teacher and pianist. He trained Anna Williams, Herbert Thorndike, etc. One of the contributors to Grove's "Dictionary of Music". He died in London, February 24, 1890. He composed "Anacreon's Grave," a four-part song; Contemplation; Ethel; May-time; Only once more; Over the crisp white snow; Sing to me; and other songs.
