James Monteith Maclaren? edit

There are two men (father and son) named "J M Maclaren" who were involved in mining/geology in the late 19th century and who lived in the Thames area.

James Monteith Maclaren (or McLaren) was born around 1836.
James Monteith McLaren (sic) was appointed mining inspector for the Hauraki Goldmining District in 1878. He would have been about 42 at the time the papers were read at the Institute
