Author talk:Robert Patrick Casey

Jr. edit

@Billinghurst: Bob Casey Jr.'s father Robert Patrick Casey Sr. was also a famous politician, probably more famous than Bob Casey Jr. With this in mind, would it make sense to restore the "Jr." in the page title? Kaldari (talk) 22:07, 19 October 2020 (UTC)Reply

@Kaldari: We don't disambiguate with senior or junior, we use (yyyy-yyyy), and the base stem name will become disambiguation page. We find it works best for us as there are too many generations of family with the same name and occupation; and competing families of Bob Caseys. We are happy for sr/jr titles to be there as redirects, though eventually they too may end up being pointing back to the disambiguation page. This way we avoid the battle over who is the most famous, the most linked, and most important to be the root. When we discussed this years ago the general consensus was to only disambiguate when we need to, not futureproof names. If we want to disambiguate now, then we add the requisite author pages and create them—author stubs are not our concern — billinghurst sDrewth 22:56, 19 October 2020 (UTC)Reply
Got it. Thanks for the clarification. Kaldari (talk) 23:36, 19 October 2020 (UTC)Reply
