Turberville has come up for me, on w:Kingsley Martin and w:John Campbell (minister).

Geographically, at least, he may be related to Rev. George Turberville (Alumni Oxonienses: the Members of the University of Oxford, 1715-1886/Tuberville, George, see note there for spelling), 50 years at Hanley Castle, died 1839; and Edmund Turberville RN died 1858 (A Naval Biographical Dictionary/Turberville, Edmund). Edmund T. comes out as George T.'s only son, according to an obituary [1]. George T. is mentioned a number of times in T. C. Turberville's History

Reviewing what else I have:

  • Edmund T.'s marriage to Mary Westcar (1819, NBD) ended in divorce 20 years later.[2] Her father was John Westcar of Creslow (not Cuslow as in NBD) who was a wealthy farmer. So, children?
  • From FreeBMD: Marriages Mar 1856 (>99%) Turberville Thomas Charles Birmingham. A newspaper report [3] gives this as "Mr. Thomas Charles Turberville, to Miss Charlotte Baylis, both of this city" married March 6 at the Bradford Street Chapel, by Rev. H. Brown.
  • T. C. Turberville comes into the John Campbell article as a Congregationalist journalist. He may have been an invalid from 1857 onwards.
  • Alice Charlotte Turberville (1867-1934) married (David) Basil Martin (1858-1940), a Congregational minister, and was mother of Kingsley Martin. (ODNB) Matches FreeBMD Marriages Jun 1893 (>99%) Turberville Alice Charlotte Islington.

A lot hangs on the correctness of the below, from [4]:

Alice Charlotte Martin (born Turberville), 1867 - 1934
Alice Charlotte Martin (born Turberville) was born on month day 1867, at birth place , to Thomas Charles Turberville and Charlotte Turberville (born Baylis) .
Thomas was born on June 2 1825, in Silver Street Baptist, Worcester, Worcester, England.
Charlotte was born Circa 1829, in St Helens, Worcestershire, England.
Alice had 4 brothers: Arthur Charles Turberville and 3 other siblings .
Alice married David Basil Martin on month day 1893, at age 26 at marriage place .
David was born on January 12 1858, in St Pancras, Middlesex, England.
They had 5 children: Hugh Percival Martin , Basil Kingsley Martin and 3 other children .

I'm not seeing inconsistency.

myheritage.com also gives [5]:

Thomas Charles Turberville, 1825 - 1871
Thomas Charles Turberville was born on month day 1825, at birth place , to Thomas Turberville and Mary Turberville (born Daniell) .
Thomas was baptized on month day 1825, at baptism place .
He had one brother: Charles Turberville .
Thomas married Charlotte Turberville (born Baylis) .
Charlotte was born Circa 1829, in St Helens, Worcestershire, England.
They had 4 children: Alice Charlotte Martin (born Turberville) and 3 other children .
Thomas lived on month day 1841, at address .
He lived on month day 1861, at address .
He lived on month day 1865, at address .
He lived on month day 1871, at address .
Thomas passed away on month day 1871, at age 46 at death place .
He was buried on month day 1871, at burial place .

One of T. C. Turberville's other children should be Alice's brother Frank mentioned in w:Kingsley Martin article, as in South Africa. I believe this will be TURBERVILLE Frank Selden 1862-1941 mentioned in this Eastern Cape grave record. FreeBMD comes up as Births Dec 1862 (>99%) TURBERVILLE Frank Selden Islington, which looks fine.

There is a bit more, in the C. H. Rolph biography of Kingsley Martin used as a reference. For the South Africa voyage, "the fare was provided by "Cousin Emily", a wealthy cousin of Mrs Martin's father living at Edgbaston. She was the widow of a prosperous Birmingham business man; she was also a pillar of the Methodist Church and a well-known Birmingham character who probably deserves a book to herself." May not be nee Turberville, of course.

@Billinghurst: Can you correlate? Charles Matthews (talk) 10:19, 28 October 2021 (UTC)Reply

@Charles Matthews: The children that you mention are correct. What exactly are requiring to prove? Just the children of TC Turberville? Or are you looking to tie in George? [Note, I think Tuberville is just a typographical error, as it sits alphabetically as Turberville) — billinghurst sDrewth 07:27, 29 October 2021 (UTC)Reply
@Billinghurst: There is not likely to be a close connection between George and Edwin, Anglicans, and Thomas Charles, nonconformist, I would now say.
On "Tuberville", hard to say whether it is college register error or a transcription error or a typographical error. Foster does not adhere to strict alphabetical order, and oftentimes groups surnames. The point is moot, though.
Since this came up first on w:Kingsley Martin, I would like to source the statement that Alice Charlotte Turberville was the daughter of Thomas Charles Martin. It seems quite possible that there is good information in Father Figures (1966), autobiography by Kingsley Martin. Absent the pandemic, I could check that in a library. Seems a basic point, since Martin was a campaigning journalist of the left, to establish a grandfather who was a journalist in popular newspapers; and the ODNB doesn't pick up on that.
Thomas Charles Turberville may be notable in the Wikipedia sense. I think that would take more digging in newspapers, to establish.
Thanks for the files. Frank Selden Turberville is said to have been an artist, played in a local cricket team, and farmed in the area, then called "Highlands". On the map it looks a really isolated part of the Eastern Cape where he settled. Charles Matthews (talk) 07:49, 29 October 2021 (UTC)Reply
@Charles Matthews: I presume you meant the mother of, rather than the daughter of. OR you mean the confirmation that she is the daughter of Turberville. That seems evident from the census. I will put any research for that on the talk page at enWP. — billinghurst sDrewth 11:20, 29 October 2021 (UTC)Reply
