According to ACAD, his father was Francis Martin, "chief Architect in the Navy in the Island of Malta". Francis was well known in his field, with a long career at w:Pembroke Dockyard. See for example [1] from 1873, where he was Master Shipwright. He had the title Chief Constructor, also. w:William Henry White was his son-in-law, having married William Robert Martin's sister Alice.[2] Charles Matthews (talk) 08:59, 5 December 2021 (UTC)
